Helena Selected for U.S. EPA's Sustainable Communities Building Blocks Program

Yesterday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released their list of 32 locations that have been selected to receive assistance for sustainable community planning efforts. Helena was one of them! They will be performing a walking audit in Helena to assess the "pedestrian environment" and develop a vision for improvements to sidewalks and streets. This is one step closer to creating a more walkable and less car dependent Helena.

Other communities selected will have assistance with sustainable land use audits, smart growth zoning, using smart growth to produce economic health, complete streets, sustainable design, and water quality.
